Radhashyam Roy (1899-1960)
Radhashyam Roy, a school teacher from Narayanganj (now in Bangladesh), founded Peerless Insurance Company Limited in 1932 with a modest working capital of Rs. 300. His mission was to create jobs for locals and build a business that financially empowered Indians, freeing them from foreign control.
Amid the political awakening of the Gandhian era, he transformed this nationalistic spirit into a business opportunity. His innovative approach, including small savings schemes and proactive service, made financial security accessible to the common person.
Under his leadership, Peerless grew from a small insurance startup into a leading Provident Insurance Company, expanding from small-scale savings to broader financial services.
